Drawing the Dance:
Costa Vavagiakis
Art Students League of New York
August 9 & 10, 2019
This workshop brought back memories of the dance performances that I had the privilege to witness firsthand during the 80s and early 90s in NYC. Alvin Alley, Twyla Tharp, Merce Cunningham and the comeback of Martha Graham. I have always found dance, poetry, and cinema to correspond with the art that I do. Cinematographers design, poets conjure words to become images, and dancers put the forms in action!

Drawing the Nude from Life
In this figure drawing lesson, you'll learn how to draw people from a live model. Costa Vavagiakis demonstrates where to place the figure on the paper how to use light and form to create the shapes that make up the nude figure. Moving his easel up and down, he teaches you to find the "forms that are fixed" and then build upon them and gradually become more fluid. You'll also learn how to draw using only a simple pencil, a white pastel pencil, and a kneaded eraser to create the breathtaking illusion of life. | 64 min
